River Monitoring Stations

River Monitoring Stations

Revitalising the Monitoring Network
Eighteen river monitoring stations throughout the country were identified for reconstruction. The scope of work includes reconstruction of the stations, new hydrometric, water sampling and data logging equipment (including calibrating tools) and its installation and commissioning.

Measuring instruments
All the 18 stations will be equipped with instruments for the measurement of water level and temperature. Some stations will also be equipped with multiparameter sonde for the measurement of water quality parameters (pH, electroconductivity and turbidity).

Electrification of the river monitoring stations
Where it is possible, the new river stations will be supplied with power from the electricity grid. In locations where an electrical connection is not possible the equipment will be powered by batteries recharged by solar energy.

Data Transmission
The data from the river monitoring stations will be transmitted directly to the Institute via a GSM modem and the public telephone network. The automatic transmission of data will allow integration of the monitoring stations into a future alarm system.

Planning
The planning of the new river monitoring stations is carried out jointly by the local experts of the HMS, the MoEPP and the consultants.

Construction
The construction works at the new river monitoring stations are carried out by local contractors under the supervision of HMS and MoEPP.
