Value adding
As part of bridge design training courses carried out by ITECO in Tanzania, information was collected from a wide range of sources and collated into a convenient, easy to use reference for the user. This saved time and effort in (for example) research to prepare a bibliography of relevant reports, publications etc. and in the downloading of large amounts of data (open source or public domain software and documentation) from the internet.
Human Development
ITECO is carrying out basic training in the use of personal computers in Serbia. Staff from a number of municipal departments in Uzice are being trained to use computer based productivity applications in their everyday work situations. This will reduce the cost of producing and processing data and will increase the quantity of information available to both the municipal staff and the citizens. Staff will not have to rely on data which is obsolete but will have instant access to up to date and more complete information.
River Monitoring
See the RIMSYS page for details of how ITECO is working with a Swiss software company to automate the monitoring of rivers in Macedonia and to train the local staff of the government department responsible for this taskt to analyse and publish the data collected in a series of year books.
In House training
The staff of ITECO receive regular in house training in new hardware and software from the IT specialists in the company. This ensures that the skills base is kept as broad as possible and that the company is not overly dependent on the knowledge of a few core specialists for its information needs.
