The Likhu IV Hydropower Project is located in the central/eastern development regions of Nepal. It is designed as a run of the river scheme having an optimised capacity of 51MW comprising 3 x 17MW generating units and vertical shaft Francis turbines. The turbines will operate at a rated head of 228 metres and a total flow of 26 cumecs. The power station is being build above ground and power will be connected to the Khimti I substation by a 25 kilometre long 132kV transmission line. A 30 metre high dam will be built across the Likhu River to create a daily pondage for peak production. The water will be carried in a 4 km long 4 metre diameter headrace tunnel to the power station. The estimated cost of the project is around US$ 75 million.
